Advance farming techniques trainings about greenhouses were conducted in Ganja and Shamkir regions


AZAFF team conducted advance farming techniques trainings about greenhouses for plant protection teachers and students of vegetable faculties in Azerbaijan State Agriculture University and for greenhouse growers in Garadjamirli village of Shamkir region.


The first advanced farming training for plant protection teachers and vegetable faculties within the framework of Azerbaijan Agricultural Finance Facility – AZAFF have been organized in cooperation with Azerbaijan State Agriculture University at their premises in Ganja, on February 7, 2017. The next training sessions have been conducted on February 9 and 102017 for greenhouse growers in Garadjamirli village of Shamkir region. 

The subjects of the trainings were selected based on the information gathered prior to the visit to the regions. Two main subjects have been selected for these trainings:

-Greenhouse production and role of biological prevention of insects;

-Nematodes in the soil and ways of preventing their propagation.

AZAFF International Agronomist Mr. Ibrahim Oguz and Senior Agriculture Expert Mr. Fagan Aghayev have been appointed as trainers for these trainings.Number of participants for the first session at ASAU was 14, while it was 8 farmers in the first day and 10 in the following day of the training in Shamkir. The trainings started with interactive discussion about current situation in the greenhouses and continued with the new topics stated above.

Indoor part of the training in Ganja has finished around 13.00 on February 07, 2017, while Shamkir training has finished around 13.30 on February 09, 2017 and all the participants were invited to attend field training in a greenhouse on February 10, 2017.  At the end of indoor trainings farmers received materials that summarize the training content including information about prevention of nematodes propagation and role of biological fighting against pests.

During field training farmers got practical knowledge about training subjects, have got a chance to see in practice and test some of the given advices. All the training participants were also invited to visit plant-producing nurseries and got advices for selection of varieties and methods of pest control.
